1946: Film Screening & Discussion
Join us at Resurrection for a screening of the documentary 1946, which explores how biblical translation shaped the modern use of the word "homosexual" and the profound impact that translation has had on LGBTQIA+ people and the Church.
After the film, we'll host a panel conversation featuring our friends Colby Martin and Molly Downs-Stoller, and Rev. Shelly Shepherd.
If you know someone who has wrestled with questions about the Bible, faith, and LGBTQIA+ inclusion, this would be a wonderful event to invite them to.
Cinema of Resistance
Part of a series of free, public film screenings to inspire, enlighten, and heal us in such a time as this on the 2nd Friday of each month. Co-Sponsored by Resurrection OB and the Ocean Beach Cinema Circle
Sunday Worship
Join us at 10:00 AM for worship as our very own Papa Pete preaches on Matthew 13:31-33, 44-52, a collection of parables that reveal the surprising, hidden, and life-changing nature of God's kingdom. We are also delighted to welcome back our friend, The Rev. Cathey Dowdle, who will celebrate Holy Communion.
Resurrection meets every Sunday at 10:00 AM at 2083 Sunset Cliffs Boulevard in Ocean Beach. Each Sunday, we meet friends, sip coffee, sing, pray, and meditate on Scripture together.

Pride Summer Hang!
Keep the celebration going this weekend! Shelly and Laurie are opening their home in Bankers Hill for a Pride Party from 2:00–4:00 PM. If you'd like to attend, please contact Shelly directly—or email info@resurrectionob.org—and let her know what side dish you'd like to bring to share.
Sunday Worship
Join us at 10:00 AM as we celebrate Pride Sunday at Resurrection. We are honored to welcome The Rev. Canon Beth Scriven as our preacher and celebrant. Together we'll reflect on Jesus' Parable of the Wheat and the Weeds (Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43), a story that invites us to trust God's wisdom, resist quick judgments, and make room for grace to grow. As always, all are welcome as we gather around Scripture, prayer, and the Communion table.
Resurrection at SD Pride
Resurrection will once again be marching in the San Diego Pride Parade on July 18. Before the parade begins, we'll gather near Richmond and University Avenues at 9 AM for a brief Eucharist and then join thousands of others in celebrating the dignity, belovedness, and inclusion of LGBTQIA+ people. If you'd like to march with Resurrection, contact Rev. Shelly Shepherd to coordinate: info@resurrectionob.org

Our other readings include Genesis 22:1–14, Psalm 13, and Romans 6:12–23.
Together, these passages invite us to reflect on trust, faithfulness, and the ways God continues to meet us in unexpected places. Whether you've been around Resurrection for a while or are considering joining us for the first time, we welcome you!

First Sunday Community Brunch
This Sunday after worship is our monthly first Sunday Brunch, and we’d love for you to stay after worship and share a meal together. If you’re able, bring something to share—breakfast items, fruit, baked goods, casseroles, or anything simple you enjoy. Homemade or store-bought, it all helps create a table where everyone belongs. And if bringing food isn’t possible this week, there will be plenty, and your presence is what matters most.

Why Bother With The Bible?
If you’ve ever been harmed by someone using the Bible as a weapon, you may understandably want nothing to do with it. And when Scripture has been pitted against science and reason, it can be tempting to think it’s not relevant or useful for today’s world. This online series, led by Colby Martin, will explore why it might still be worth it to bother with the Bible again.

Acolyte Training
If you are interested in serving as an acolyte, join us for a brief 20 to 30-minute training after church on Sunday, May 17. Acolytes assist in worship by attending to the details of the service—helping set the table for Holy Eucharist and ensuring the gifts of the feast reach everyone present. Adults and youth (ages 12+) are welcome—no prior experience needed.
