The CINEMA of RESISTANCE
A series of free, public screenings of movies to inspire, enlighten, and heal us in such a time as this.
In the tradition of the prophets and sages, saints and martyrs from every generation who have hoped for justice and peace, these works of cinematic art incite resistance to the Powers That Be — by bearing witness to the dignity of every human being, by protesting injustice, and by imagining new ways of being in the world.
The films in this series, whether fiction or documentary, classic or contemporary, American or international, are not necessarily explicitly religious, but they all share a spirituality of resistance to an oppressive status quo. Likewise, they are not necessarily political in the narrow sense, but they unequivocally stand with the powerless and those on the margin, advocating social, cultural, and economic change.
Join us at 7pm on the second Friday of each month for these free, public screenings, followed by discussion. All are welcome.
